The Dog and the Wolf by weremagnus The Dog and the Wolf by weremagnus
Assignment for illustration, had to draw an image utalizing opposites and apply it to a fable or article. i put in both versions with the type and without D: Full view is large enough to read

I did "The Wolf and the Dog" from Aesop's, which is opposites anyway (Freedom/Slavery, Security/Uncertainty), then I brought in a level of Faith/Faithless.

Meant to look ambigous, I wanted tension between the priest dog (Domesticated, bipedal, loyal, etc) offering the safety and reassurance he has to the wolf (wild, free, independent, etc). The wolf is neither rejecting or accepting the offer at this point, but as the fable tells, the wolf would rather starve in his freedom.

ps if religious debate gets going in here, I'm turning comments off SO DON'T DO IT.

Wow, I love this. The absolute, complete contrast between the wolf and the dog is amazing, and you did a wonderful job depicting that.

Wow, this is a very interesting interpretation. I actually did an illustration of the Dog and the Wolf in high school. :) So, its neat to see how other people draw the characters.

nice work as always magnus. An awfully harsh fable I would say though haha.

The contrast between the two figures is great: the domesticated dog vs. the wild wolf. Love it.

I really like the chains in the background, makes me think that the dog is holding the wolf captive, like if he WANTS him to forget of freedom and be like him.

This is an excellent image, and quite a thought provoking topic as well. Certainly one that comes to mind often, for those of us who wish for freedom, even while bound by the limitations of our society. After all, it's amusing how many cry for freedom, even as they approve policies that strip it away in favor of the illusion of security.

More importantly, though, I love the image, as it's got great detail and provides a fitting mood with it's color and shading, and the presentation of the text on the version for the assignment itself is well laid out. Great job.
